Rovos Rail to Victoria Falls, Hwange & Mana Pools Safari

ABOUT THIS ITINERARY:

There is no way better to settle into an African safari holiday than a Train Experience on the Rovos Rail through scenic South Africa and Zimbabwe.  It gets even better when your destination is the Victoria Falls, the worlds largest waterfall.  This amazing journey takes 3 nights, winding its way north from Pretoria in South Africa to Victoria falls in Zimbabwe.  Once crossing the Limpopo river the border for South Africa and Zimbabwe, your journey continues North until you get to Hwange National Park arriving mid afternoon where you disembark for a 2 hour game drive around one of Hwange’s scenic vlei’s.  The following morning you enter Victoria Falls, home to one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.

Your accomodation is the Victoria Falls Safari Club, a boutique hotel on the safari lodge property.  Looking west into the Zambezi National Park with sunset views and looking out towards a productive waterhole, the Victoria Falls Safari Club is the perfect location to relax and take in everything Victoria Falls has to offer.  Stroll around the Falls and do sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, or a heli-flight over the Falls.  There is so many activities on offer.

Next stop is Linkwasha Camp.  Located in a remote corner in the south west of Hwange National Park on a private concession, this camp offers the best of Hwange.  The private and exclusive concession boasts great numbers of wildlife and birdlife, as well as a wide range of activities such as day and night game drives, guided walks, a sleepout deck, Olympus camera’s for use, community tours and a hide to sit and watch animals for hours in their natural environment.  It is better than it sounds and it keeps getting better!

From here you take a charter flight to one of Zimbabwe’s wildest and remote regions, Mana Pools.   Set on the banks of the Zambezi River in a wildlife rich Albida forest, Chikwenya offer some of the best guided walking in Africa.  Animals come to feast on the Albida pods, and wit one of Africa’s oldest rivers on your doorstep, the floodplains are a magnet for plains game and predators.  Chikwenya Camp is the perfect compliment to your previous accommodations and will set up a grand finale to an amazing African safari holiday.Read More

After Covid restrictions we were finally able to indulge in an African Safari in Botswana’s Okavango Delta and Kalahari. Highly anticipated, it did not disappoint. 5 different lodges with superb accommodation, friendliest staff and the African bush wildlife at its best. Every day was filled with adventure. Based on Rowan’s personal experience, he planned a trip that was just right for us. We loved it and highly recommend Sensational Africa for any African adventure you are considering. Every step of the way had been arranged and we were in very capable hands at all times. Relax, take it all in and enjoy every minute!

Sensational Africa have done us proud. They recommended and then organised everything from our flights to baggage storage at Maun; an amazing safari experience deep in the Kalahari in Botswana at a Ker and Downey camp (Dinaka). Whilst there it rained and we witnessed the desert flora and fauna coming to life. From flowers that appear for just a few days a year, to migrating birds on a stopover, bullfrogs feasting on nuptial termites, and frolicking baby wildebeest and impala. Our trip was a delight, made even more special by the exceptional hospitality, comfort and safari guiding provided by Dinaka Camp. We thank Sensational Africa for their outstanding organisation taking into account our personal preferences and wishes. Margie and Alan.

Thank you Rowan and team for organising our incredible trip to Africa. It was even more amazing than we’d hoped. The people, places and scenery really do have to be seen to be believed. Your knowledge of the local areas in Zimbabwe and Botswana helped to create a unique and tailored family experience!! And yes…that lion was about 2m away from our vehicle!!! 😬
