ABOUT THIS ITINERARY:
Every year Rowan, the founder of Sensational Africa leads a limited number of tours for discerning travellers wanting to experience the best of Africa. With tours at differing times of the year, each tour showcases Africa in different seasons but still offers the same highlights along the way. For us, the luxury is not only in the accomodation, but in the experience itself.
For those that have always wished to visit Africa, this is the tour for you and your family and friends to go experience. This tour fully encompasses the best of Southern Africa. From the mighty Victoria Falls, Hwange – Zimbabwe’s largest National Park, the Okavango Delta and 3 different areas around Cape Town, this experience has it all. Designed to bring out the best wildlife experiences, scenic landscapes and a variety of fantastic activities.
We begin our African Safari Holiday in the epicentre of Southern Africa, Victoria Falls which lies on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Like something out of a lost kingdom, the mighty Zambezi River plunges over the falls 105m down into the Batoka Gorge below. At 1.6km wide its mind boggling how much water goes over the falls. We will be staying upstream of the Zambezi River on the Zambian side at Toka-Leya Camp. This beautiful camp with views over the river has so much to offer us. Read More
Enjoy the serene setting and all the activities on offer including a guided tour of the Falls on the Zambian side, a tour of the Livingstone museum, a Rhino tracking experience (nominal fee), river cruises, cultural experiences and more. This is a good opportunity to see two small African town’s, the town of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, and the town of Livingstone in Zambia. On departure day we cross over into Zimbabwe and do a privately guided tour of the Falls on the Zimbabwean side, a must when visiting the falls as most of the view points are in the Zimbabwe Rainforest. We now proceed to Victoria Falls Airport for our light aircraft flight to Hwange National Park to begin what will be an increible 6 nights in some of Africa’s best wildlife regions.
After arriving in Hwange we take a game drive towards Little Makalolo Camp, our camp for the next 3 nights. Situated in a wildlife rich concession in the South Eastern part of Hwange National Park, Little Makalolo produces big experiences. The camp is small and intimate with only 6 rooms and overlooks a productive waterhole. The concession is well-renowned for its elephant, buffalo, predators and birdlife. There is a whole range of activities we will experience here, day and night game drives, a log-pile hide, guided walks and some cultural tours. This area is remote and scenic and it offer us a perfect start to our African Safari.
On departure day we have a series of short light aircraft flights to Botswana get to our camp in the Okavango Delta. Little Vumbura is a true delta camp, it is a water based camp and is quintessential Okavango. We do have the option for land based activities here too and wildlife and birdlife is fantastic all year round. With only 6 tents and located on a small wooded island, it will be safari to remember. Here you have the opportunity of doing a Mokoro excursion if you wish, glide through the pristine waters of the Delta and forget about everything else but nature and take in this exceptional piece of paradise. Once our 3 days are up this brings an end to our safari and the next exciting adventure awaits in South Africa’s incredible Cape Town!
This is where Rowan says good bye and leaves you to enjoy some quality time with your significant other and your groups of close friends. You will still be in the capable hands of a Private Guide in Cape Town for all of your transfers as well as for 3 privately guided tours of the Cape region. I have hand-picked these fantastic Journeys as they are as fun as they are informative, bringing out the best of the region. During your transfer your guide will outline your activity and transfer programme for the next 7 days.
Going from the serene Okavango Delta to Cape Town is quite the change, but the transition is made much easier when your next stop is Steenberg Estates. The areas oldest wine farm having been established in 1682, Steenberg is a haven of tranquility. We have so much planned for your 2 night stay here. For the Golfers there is 18 holes on Steenberg’s private golf club and for the non-golfers enjoy a voucher to the spa, a heavenly experience. Enjoy dinner at the acclaimed Tryn restaurant or Bistro 1682 with a voucher from us. Try the local wines and enjoy the local Constantia area. Your will enjoy a light lunch and at the end of the day you will arrive at the One & Only Cape town for your next 2 night stay.
The One & Only is located in the heart of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, the hub of Cape Town.
