Time of year to travel

Victoria Falls is a year round destination. The amount of water going over the Victoria Falls varies greatly between high and low season. The Falls are at their peak in April and May which makes for an incredible experience to watch the Zambezi river falling 100m into the gorge below. There are many view points to see the falls from and it is a refreshing experience as the spray from the falls covers everything and sustains the surrounding rainforest.

The water that flows down the Zambezi River comes from the rains in the Zambia and the Angolan highlands months before they start to arrive sometime in February. Peaking in May, water starts to recede from June onwards with the bare rock becoming visible in September and by late November and December the falls are usually only flowing on the Zimbabwean side. Winter in Victoria falls is from May to July and it is mild and dry. By late September and early October the temperatures rise before the coming of the rains in November.
