LINYANTI SAFARI HOLIDAYS
Located to the west of the famous Chobe National Park, The Linyanti is the collective term for three of Africa’s best private reserves – Selinda, Kwando, and Linyanti.
Each of The Linyanti private reserves is slightly different from one another, but when combined they are undeniably three of Africa’s finest reserves. Located on the Selinda Spillway, Kwando River, and Linyanti, the region attracts massive elephant herds and phenomenal concentrations of game, especially during the dry season between June and late October.
The entire Linyanti region is known as a classic dry-season reserve. Travelling to this region during the wetter months of November to May can be disappointing in specific camps. This region has a high mopane woodland density meaning that viewing can be particularly challenging when the bush is thick due to tree growth during the wet season. Viewing good game is still possible during the wetter periods, but many of our clients tend to have better experiences in other areas of the country during this time of year.
HOME TO LINYANTI ITSELF, KWANDO, AND SELINDA
FAMOUS FOR THE VERY LARGE HERDS
SUPERB FOR APEX PREDATORS, INCLUDING WILD DOG AND CHEETAH
REMOTE, LUXURY AND EXCLUSIVE LODGE OPTIONS AVAILABLE
Linyanti offers visitors both night-time and day game driving safaris as well as good boating activities (in specific areas) and walking tours are also a great choice.
Time of year to travel
If you want to experience large herds of game concentrated in and around the rivers, then June through to October is the best time to visit. Throughout this season the game viewing on offer is spectacular and will rival anywhere else in Africa. If you choose to holiday outside this period, particularly during November or April through to June, then you need to choose your safari lodge carefully to maximise your experience. If you can only travel during these months, then we would highly recommend chatting to the team at Sensational Africa first. We suggest avoiding The Linyanti area from December to early April due to the inclement weather conditions.

Kwando Lagoon Camp
The northern region of Botswana is home to the vast Kwando Concession and the relaxed Kwando Lagoon Camp. Located in an attractive riverside setting the recently renovated camp has lovely accommodation with generally excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Kwando Lagoon Camp is well known for its shady trees on the edge of the Kwando River where the lush riverine forest is combined with open plains.
Our top tip
The only downside to holidaying in this region is the high prices. The reward for paying a premium rate can give guests exclusivity and a wide range of safari experiences in a truly remarkable game-viewing area. If you are seeking better value for money then it is best to visit from May to June or even in November. At these times all of the reserves tend to drop their rates but the game viewing remains quite good. Each reserve offers its own unique features and experiences, so it is therefore important to speak with the Sensational Africa team to ensure that you receive the best possible advice, itineraries, and prices.
