KRUGER NATIONAL PARK SAFARI HOLIDAYS
Kruger National Park is known by people all over the world. It is one of Africa’s finest and largest safari regions. Home to the Big 5, Kruger has a truly massive concentration of game with this park staking a claim as one of the best reserves on the continent.
Located on the eastern side of Johannesburg in South Africa’s north, Kruger has a network of sealed tarmac roads which enable unique self-drive safari tours around the park. When self-drive tours are combined with camping safaris and overland tour groups, these roads can have a high build-up of traffic, thus spoiling the safari experience for many. However, the Kruger National Park does have several private concession parks where only guests staying at these reserves can go on safari. The self-drive market is not able to reach these areas and therefore visitors can enjoy more of a wilderness experience rather than sitting in traffic.
The private reserves that operate adjacent to the Kruger National Park like Timbavati and Sabi Sands, in particular, are home to luxurious safari lodges and offer ultra-exclusive game viewing opportunities. Guests who are staying at lodges within the Kruger Private Concessions have access to Kruger National Park and guides who may treat you to special sightings within the park. Our experience tells us that there is a wealth of wildlife to be viewed in the private reserves and most of our guests opt to stay within their private concession to enjoy more intimate game encounters. The team at Sensational Africa can help you plan your safari holiday to Kruger and our experience is sure to make it very memorable.
ONE OF THE BEST-KNOWN WILDLIFE PARKS ON EARTH
GAME-VIEWING EXPERIENCES LIKE NO OTHER
HIGH-QUALITY LUXURY LODGES
GREAT TO COMBINE WITH THE SABI SANDS
Activities available to those who choose to stay in the private reserves adjacent to Kruger include the usual game drives, however, you can also choose to do a walking safari, night drive or an off-road tour, none of which are possible within the boundaries of the national park itself.
The Singita Concession sits on the remote mountainous border that South Africa shares with Mozambique at the junction of two rivers. Singita is a private concession of over 16,000-hectares and boasts one of the highest wildlife concentrations in Kruger. The concession is home to two luxurious lodges (Singita Lebombo and Singita Sweni) which many rate as some of the finest on the continent.
The Makuleke Concession is located further to the north and is named after the local Makuleke people. In recent decades the land rights have been returned to the Makuleke people who now benefit from tourism profits associated with this area. This remote concession is a seldom-visited part of Kruger. Covering over 24,000 hectares its biodiversity is home to good big-game sightings, but the main attraction in this concession must be its feeling of true wilderness.
