Shinde

Where is Shinde: Shinde has an ideal setting.  Located on a palm island in the northern part of the Okavango Delta surrounded by ebony and mongosteen trees which are synonymous with the delta.  Set on the Shinde lagoon, Shinde has a great combination of land and water activities, so you can explore far and wide.  This intimate classic camp located on the edge of the Shinde Lagoon, which simply teems with animal and birdlife. The camps unique main area comprises of a multi-tiered dining room and lounge which is set under canvas under the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees.   Shinde’s decor has an elegant “Out of Africa” theme and has all the comforts necessary to the new world traveller, from solar electricity a private viewing deck, and even yoga mats! We recommend at least 3-4 days here to enjoy the entire experience.

Accommodation: Shinde has 7 newly renovated tented rooms with 1 tented family suite described as “the best of nature within an authentic safari design”.

Activities: Shinde has the option of both land and water activities all year round, a rare option in the ever changing Okavango Delta.  A huge bonus when travelling to a Ker and Downey Botswana camp is you are guaranteed a window seat in your game drive vehicle.  This means a maximum of 4 per vehicle.  Game drives and guided walks are done by your professional guide.  Guided walks are a fantastic way to get up close to nature on foot and adds another dimension to safari.  Motorboats are used for sunset cruises and fishing, we highly recommend trying your hand at Africa’s best freshwater fighting fish, the Tigerfish.  An intimate safari experience is the Mokoro, a traditional canoe (now fiberglass).  This activity gets you up close to the reeds and gliding silently through the crystal waters of the delta is an experience never to be forgotten.
