Moemi Game Reserve | Botswana

Overview

Resting on the banks of the Khwai River inside the Moemi Game Reserve, Camp Xakanaxa (pronounced ‘ka-ka-na-ka’) boasts stunning views of the spectacular lagoon by the same name. Twelve luxury safari tents that are positioned over the water’s edge with each tent having a viewing deck to enjoy the scenery. The rooms are equipped with either twin or double beds, a ceiling and standing fan, reading lights, writing desk come vanity table with chair, luggage racks, a hairdryer, 220V multi-adaptor plugs and ample storage. Ensuite facilities are located towards the back of the tent and comprise of a flushing toilet, tea-and-coffee station, stone washbasin and a spacious shower with amenities. Access for travellers with mobility issues is available upon request.

 

An elevated, thatched style guest area provides uninterrupted views of the lagoon and Khwai River. Featuring an open-air lounge with plush leather sofas and comfortable armchairs this area is a great place to relax and take in the local wildlife scenery. The area is cooled by standing fans and the camp’s library with a basic internet connection and a laptop is also available for guests. The lounge area also has a well-stocked bar where guests can help themselves to an assortment of beverages.

The elegant dining area consists of two long tables with upright chairs and is the setting for superb light breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas, and scrumptious dinners. With the camp’s dining and lounge spaces flowing out onto a spacious viewing deck, guests can dine and drink al fresco. Guests are treated to night-time fires in the cooler months while being able to utilise the fit-pit lounges in the summers months enjoying the cool shade of a large Jackalberry tree. The camp also features a pool surrounded by sun loungers where guests can relax and enjoy a refreshing dip.
